The JSC «Trest Shahtospecstroy» shaft-sinking department was founded on February 16, 2004 dedicated to sinking the shafts of the Krasnoslobodsky PU. Currently, its structure includes 5 units:
- refrigeration and compressor unit;
- shaft-sinking unit №1;
- shaft-sinking unit №2;
- drilling and blasting and ventilation unit;
- egress unit.
The SSD team consists of high qualified technical engineers and employees, certified in various specialties in the field of underground excavations, has extensive experience in vertical shaft-sinking and underground mining complexes construction, including works in difficult mining and geological conditions using special methods of mine working sinkin. The shaft-sinking department performs the following types of work:: 
- soil freezing;
- shaft-sinking and pit-bottom workings (couplings, hopper stations etc.) by drilling and blasting method;
- concrete, reinforced concrete and ready-made tubing support erection;
- support damp-proofing(seam calking, construction of picotage joints, contact grouting);
- metal structures and shaft equipment installation;
- manufacture installation in the shaft (sollers, falsework, underground loading machines, pipelines, cables) and around the shaft (pit-head frames, winding barrels, lifting equipment);
- installation of refrigeration equipment.
For the shaft-sinking SSD uses the following equipment:
- mobile winders МПП-17,5, МПП-9, МППП-21;
- sinking winches (ЛПЭП) with a capacity of 5-25 tons;
- rock loaders (КС-2У/40);
- blower loaders with manual driving (КС-3);
- unloading hopper complexes (БПСМ-2,0, БПСМ-3,0, БПСП-1,0, БПСМ-4,5);
- shaft-sinking headframes («Север-2»);
- face frameworks;
- suspended sinking platforms;
- tamping pumpsets;
- machines for drilling holes in the reinforced-concrete support (БАС-1М).
The following mining equipment is available for sinking and fixing horizontal workings:
- tunnel boring machines (ПКС-8МА, ПКС-8М, КРП);
- shuttle cars (5ВС 15М, 10ВС 22М);
- conveyor hoppers (БП-14МА);
- scraper feeders (ППП-1);
- scraper transformers (СП-202);
- mine air blowers (ВМЭ-6);
- compression pumps (ЗИФ-ШВ-7,5);
- pneumatic placers (ПН-900);
- transformer boxes and mine electric start-up equipment.
